DC4EU workshop in Dublin on the implementation of eIDAS & ARF

The DC4EU Social Security team (WP6) concluded its two-day workshop on July 11th and 12th, in Dublin, Ireland hosted by the Government of Ireland, Department of Social Protection (DSP) with over 80 participants.

The first day began with participants arriving and registering, with Android users installing the demo wallet and verifying their PID, while iOS users registered manually. Tony Kieran from DSP officially welcomed everyone, setting a positive tone for the day. Gerd Bauer, DC4EU WP6 Coordinator, introduced the workshop, highlighting the goals and expectations.

The morning continued with project management topics discussed by Khaliunaa Damdinbazar, followed by an in-depth session led by Henrik Gabel from the DC4EU WP6 Core Group, focusing on the first part of the story for Social Security Coordination. After a lunch break, the Interoperability Lab was conducted by Stefan Liström, DC4EU WP7 Lead, showcasing the interoperability capabilities.

Participants then engaged in an interactive game, using the demo wallet in a verification challenge, which spanned two sessions and was facilitated by all participants. The day concluded with a wrap-up session and a group picture, followed by a private guided tour of the historic Dublin Castle. The evening ended on a high note with a delightful dinner, where participants enjoyed traditional Irish cuisine and continued networking in a relaxed setting.

The second day started with a welcome speech by Teresa Leonard, Deputy Secretary General of DSP, and an update on the status of the Irish National Wallet presented by Tony Shannon, Head of Digital Services at OGCIO, Ireland. Gerd Bauer continued with the second part of the story for Social Security Coordination, setting the stage for the day’s focus on Large-Scale Pilots (LSPs). Thomas Ebbinghaus from the DC4EU WP6 Core Group then outlined the roadmap towards the implementation of eIDAS & ARF, providing a strategic overview of the future steps. Katharina Hilmar, DC4EU WP6 Business Lead, led an interactive session on piloting and user journeys, helping participants understand the intricacies of piloting. Following a lunch break, the focus shifted to drafting the use cases for piloting, with all participants contributing their insights and expertise in a collaborative effort. The day ended with Gerd Bauer and Fiona McCloskey wrapping up the workshop with a summary of next steps and key takeaways.

Throughout these two days, participants were engaged in insightful keynotes, interactive sessions, and practical demonstrations. The discussions on digital transformation and the future of Large-Scale Pilots were particularly forward-looking, setting a strong foundation for upcoming international meetings LSPs.
